how i want to present myself to the world changes constantly so i have a hard time writing these. what’s certain is that i consider myself to be a very creative person. i’m involved in almost all global forms of art in one way or another and am constantly working on something, exteriorizing my feelings and experimenting. i can’t stop myself from doing stuff

although i love the world very deeply i live inside my head almost constantly. frolicking inside my mind palace is my favorite activity ever. interacting with people is sometimes very distressing and overwhelming for me and i find myself evading it more times than not, so i guess you can call me an introvert. despite that, i love long, deep and meaningful conversations that make me think a lot, and listening to other people ramble about things they know about.

percussion is my biggest passion. as of december 2024-february 2025, i’m studying very hard to formally enter music university and pursue it! i love playing with all my heart, and it’s the only thing i see myself doing for the rest of my life.

why rust?

it’s the name i use online, but why did i choose it? i first heard of it being used as a name upon playing the yume nikki fangame .flow, it belonging to a main character, and i really liked it. this is a bit strange but i always had the sensation that my body is rotten or rusty from the inside, kind of like cotard’s syndrome. during the worst periods of my life i was pretty much convinced that was the case. so i adapted rust as a name! more than it being a reminder of darker thoughts, i just like the word - it sounds nice. i sometimes obsess over words or phrases that just sound good, and this was coincidentally one of them

overall philosophy + art

i love all media that is weird, unconventional and unique in its own way. i tend to find beauty in things people regard as ugly or undesirable. the more personal, hand-crafted and passion-project-y something is, the more i love it

i’d say surrealism is my favorite art genre, as most of my interests fit into it.

i’m also very interested in art history and musicology. steve reich and john cage are my favorite contemporary music composers

i don’t know if i could describe my music taste.

the humanities

although i am no expert, i’m greatly interested in literature, history, philosophy and psychology as side hustles. the philosophers that have influenced me the most are michel foucault, slavoj zizek, georges bataille & giles deleuze (yes i am a raging communist… shocker i know)

my favorite literary writers and poets are roberto bolaño (i love him so much it makes me want to cry), alejandra pizarnik & franz kafka

and on psychology, i mostly have only read freud and jung for now, but i really like them, especially the latter

my favorite time period to read about is the XX century as a whole, excluding wars. not really a warhead. i always suspect people who are into the world wars too hard… anyway, i’d also like to study the history of eastern europe and china someday! they really call my attention

hobbies

hoo boy… okay. i spend a lot of time on my own and have lots and lots of hobbies i rummage through depending on my current main interests. i may focus on one in particular for a certain time period, put it on hold, and come back to it later. i’m also very enthusiastic about learning to do stuff and i don’t see limits to what i can achieve, so i constantly get excited with ideas i don’t complete.

writing: poetry, prose (fiction & essays), surrealist automatism. i’m not excellent, but i have lots of fun! i’ve been writing for most of my life. you can read my writing here. i also find roleplay and building shared fictions with others to be really cool!

drawing: digital & traditional. mainly humanoids and occasional anthropomorphic creatures. i have almost no interest in drawing inanimate things. you can visit my ig to look through my art

oc making: ahh… also something i’ve done for most of my life. as you can probably tell creating fictional worlds in my head is huge for me. i mainly have 2 main universes right now, D.I.M. and ROJO. both are set in latinoamérica.
i enjoy the feeling of creating characters that could perfectly be real people and dislike anime inspired ocs (characters with exuberant designs that make no sense with their personality, mary sues, etc. this is of course a personal preference). check out my toyhouse

game development: i’m a rpgmaker junkie. uhh i got a few projects going on but they’re only in my head for now! i am familiar with the usage of the program however. maybe someday you’ll see something come to life… my itch.io

reading: i’d say my favorite genres are drama & mystery, but i don’t really read books for their genres. i’ll read anything that catches my attention
and on non-fiction, i enjoy biographies from musicians, political theory and stuff on psychology and sociology. my goodreads

Realismo Mágico as we know it was born on the first of march of 2023, upon many months of experimentation and discovery in my HTML/CSS journey. like many, i came across uncanny valley and it absolutely BLEW MY MIND. i wanted to make something as cool as that on the web IMMEDIATELY. i learned everything i know about coding by watching a single youtube video, consulting various resource sites made by the community itself and inspecting people’s sites under a microscope.
